Yosemite: Range of Light

Yosemite has been a haven for photographers since the middle of the nineteenth century. Probably every photographer of the western United States landscape has made images here. Ansel Adams, Yosemite’s most famous photographer, made his international reputation here as one of America’s best-known landscape photographers.

Although I only live a few hours north of Yosemite, I avoided the place for years, as I detest crowds. However, some years ago I was called up to teach a college class that included a weekend field trip to this place, and so I was compelled to thoroughly research the area. What I found delighted me, and I learned that Yosemite is at its best outside the summer season. Crowds are few, especially during mid week, the light is great, and great images are everywhere. These images (and many more) are available for purchase as prints from my online Imagekind gallery. Also, you may purchase enlargements and image downloads for publication at this site.
