In 1848, a mill worker named James Marshall found gold here, setting off the greatest migration of people in history, changing the destiny of the American West. I grew up in this little town, moving away for about 20 years to seek a career, then settling back here with young family. I know the town intimately, have many friends here, and have thousands of photos of this wonderful place. In 2012 I published a book of historical photos of Coloma.
