Favorite Yosemite Photographers
Yosemite has been a haven for photographers since the middle of the nineteenth century. Probably every photographer of the western United States landscape has made images here. Here are a few favorites:
The Ansel Adams Gallery, featuring Ansel Adams, William Neill and many other talents. If you're in the Yosemite Valley, be sure to visit the gallery.
Gary Hart has made a name for himself with his prolific Yosemite workshops. Highly recommended!
Carlton Watkins was one of the first photographers in Yosemite.
Galen Rowell started as a Yosemite climber with a camera, but then became one of the world's foremost landscape photographers working with 35mm equipment.
William Neill, photographer-in-residence for the National Park Service in Yosemite, produces truly world-class images. Highly inspirational!
Lewis Kemper worked at the Ansel Adams Gallery for years before becoming a world-famous photographer.
Phil Hawkins offers some interesting (and a bit pricey) Yosemite workshops.
Chris Falkenstein has been photographing in Yosemite for years.
Take a look at Charles Cramer's elegant Yosemite images. His work is included in a new photo book on Yosemite.
Truckee photographer Elizabeth Carmel is perhaps best known for her Tahoe photography. However, she has an impressive body of work from Yosemite.
Few contemporary photographers epitomize Yosemite as much as Michael Frye, author of the book The Photographer's Guide to Yosemite. He offers great photography tips along with gorgeous photos.
