A Day in the Vineyards and Coloma
After consultation with the winemaker, we have chosen Saturday, September 25 for the workshop. Venezio Winery, a few miles north of Coloma, has graciously invited us to photograph the grapes right at harvest time. Plenty of varieties will still be on the vines until well after this date so we'll catch the best of both worlds. We’ll also detour to nearby historic Coloma. We’ll start the day with a presentation on camera settings and composition, do our photography and then critique our efforts. Designed for beginning photographers. Limited to ten people, and an assistant will be on hand. Breakfast and lunch are included. Free wine and cheese pairing and tasting at the end of the day for those over 21! Cost: $135.
8 a.m. to 9 a.m.: For those who have already had some photography instruction, we'll catch a bit of the early morning light in the vineyards, as shown in the photo above (we may not have the vividly colored leaves this early in the season, but you never know).
9 a.m. - 11 a.m.: Breakfast and basic camera instruction (camera settings, exposure and composition)
11 a.m to approximately 11:30 a.m.: Lunch
11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Coloma
4 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Wine and cheese pairing
5 p.m. until dark: Sunset in the vineyards along with a special treat. We will have three lovely, outgoing young models in costume who will pose for anyone interested in people photography. We'll review some basic camera settings, lenses and lighting for this kind of photography.
Please bring your camera, camera manual and tripod if you have one. A loaner tripod will be available.
