Sometimes people are defined not only by their faces but by their hands, clothes and material possesions. This vintage loom occupies a room at Fort Ross State Historic Park, a windswept place where the Pacific Ocean crashes against the rugged Northern California coastline. Nearly 200 years ago, Russians established a lonely outpost here in California as they searched for sea otter.
