Glacier Bay 2005

From the land of glaciers, we travel for hours to reach Dundas Bay, a verdant oasis in Glacier Bay National Park that has been untouched by ice for thousands of years. Right: rainy mists linger on glacially sculpted mountainsides [note: photographed in near-dark conditions at a high ISO, so lots of digital "noise" here].

On a morning walk at Dundas Bay, we discover the tiny sundew, a carnivorous plant (above), creeks meandering through boggy muskeg (right), a chocolate lily just finishing its bloom (below) and Indian paintbrush (below the chocolate lily). Below right: a butterfly is trapped on a plant.
