Prince William Sound hermit George Flemming grew up on remote Knight Island and when I met him was caretaker of a herring oil rendering plant that had closed down 50 years before. At home on the sea and in the wilderness of the Sound, he had never ridden in a car, seen a train or ship or supermarket or any of the accoutrements of modern civilization until he was over 80 years old. He passed away in the early 1980s. I have dozens of photos of this wonderful gentleman. (Model release available)
