Keep it simple. A 500mm lens was used to create shallow depth of field so as to blur the background. This fireweed was photographed near Mendenhall Glacier, north of Juneau, Alaska. New Workshops! |

Hi there! We've added a second Bodie workshop in June, coinciding with the new moon so that perhaps we can do some star photography in the evening in addition to photographing interiors the next day. Also, we have an afternoon workshop in Placerville that will give you techniques for restoring damaged old photos. We're also exploring the possibility of another Point Reyes weekend workshop for this summer or fall, but no dates have been set yet. |
| Beginning Digital Camera Workshop. Based on popular demand, we're repeating this workshop, with some changes to accommodate more one-on-one time to look at cameras and manuals. The date is February 25. Fun, relaxed times among friends. We still have plenty of room, but do get in touch asap! I partner with the El Dorado Arts Council on this one. |
Photoshop for Photographers. No, you can't learn Photoshop in a day, but you can at least get started and by the end of the day (March 24) you will have a basic working knowledge of the software. |
Photo Restoration. Do you have boxes of precious but battered old family photos? You'll learn amazing ways to bring them back to life. |
Filoli Gardens. We're repeating the hugely successful trip from last year to this lavish formal garden near San Mateo. We will have special permits to enter the place at 8:30 a.m., before the hordes get there. Date: April 14th. |
| Alaska 2012. Finally, the information for August 5-12, 2012. This will be a fantastic trip, amazing itinerary. Bears, whales, fantastic scenery, great food. Truly the trip of a lifetime. The trip is already filling, so get in touch asap if you're interested. |
| Sunflowers. This remarkable Cameron Park garden has been featured several times on television. Learn flower and macro photography in this joyful setting on Monday, August 20, when we'll have the place to ourselves. This is a fundraiser for breast cancer research. |
| Bodie. In this Gold Rush ghost town on the east side of the Sierra Nevadas, the real photographic treasures are INSIDE the buildings. Of the 200,000 visitors who come here each year from all over the world, only a handful are permitted inside. We will have the rare opportunity to do that once again in September 2012. Although the fall workshop is full, we are now offering a second workshop in June. These workshops fill FAST! |
