The Brothers Islands

This picturesque group of islands offer haven for boaters at the north edge of Frederick Sound, Alaska. Storms come and go, and the light changes constantly, as shown here.

Steller sea lions crowd a rock in The Brothers islands. The males vie noisily for dominance over their harems.
During an extra-low tide at The Brothers, various anemones gleam brilliantly.
A sea star administers its coup de grace to this clam. Having opened up the mollusk, the sea star will feed by extruding its stomach to the inside of the clam.
