Berg Bay

Berg Bay, along Blake Channel southeast of Wrangell (and not to be confused with Berg Bay in Glacier Bay National Park), is the site of a Forest Service cabin and a massive estuary that marks the mouth of Aaron Creek. A boardwalk trail leads from the cabin to the estuary. Wildflowers (and biting insects) were everywhere.

Left: bright orange seaweed reveals itself at low tide.

The Delphinus rests at anchor in Berg Bay. At the left is a dock in front of the Forest Service cabin. Indian paintbrush and cinquefoil flowers brighten the landscape.
Light showers and biting insects made raingear the clothing of choice for this photographer.
A telephoto lens blurs the background in this photo of a lupine in the Aaron Creek estuary.
