Glacier Ice

In the middle of Frederick Sound, a huge iceberg, probably calved from Sawyer or South Sawyer Glacier in Tracy Arm, creates fantastic blue patterns. Compressed under great pressure, glacier ice has fewer air bubbles than ice, say, from one's refrigerator. Thus the ice reflects the blue part of the spectrum. This effect is especially enhanced on overcast days.
