Little bear tries to steal a fish from Mocha and her cubs; Mocha loses her temper. Our little bear gets the message and runs.
She looks back to see if Mocha is close.
Mocha starts out after her.
Don't ever try to outrun a bear. They may look fat and ungainly, but they can move fast! Mocha is on the move.

Our little bear is now running all-out.
And so is Mocha.
After banishing the offending little bear to the woods, she returns to fishing.
The cubs follow closely, yelling for their mom.
Here comes the second cub.
For a while, Mocha and her cubs disappear upstream. Our little bear sneaks back, but as Mocha gets closer the little bear gets a whiff and hightails it for the woods once again. That is the last the humans see of her for the day.
Another view of a fishing brown bear, as seen from the tower.
Mocha and her cubs take a nap in the warm summer sun.
Time to go fishing again.

A spontaneous encounter on the trail to the tower. We humans gracefully stepped off the trail and let the bear go where it wanted to go. Finally the bear found a nice back-scratching tree and lingered there for a while. The humans moved on. This photo was made with a wide-angle lens.
