Alaska 2007—Rocky Pass Quiet Times

When the Delphinus made a morning attempt to push through the shallow tidal channels of Rocky Strait, the water was too low and the boat could not get through. So what  to do? Turn back to our beautiful anchorage near Irish Creek on Kupreanof Island and do some beachcombing until the tide came back up. This was a great opportunity for careful landscapes and macro shots of intertidal life.

A medley of barnacles, limpets and kelp.

Everywhere, small tidepools allowed time for photos and introspection.

This yellow seaweed is common throughout Southeast Alaska and Prince William Sound.
